When people think of hypnosis, they imagine a watch swinging on a chain that puts the subject into a trance, or one of the Las Vegas style acts where high profile performers hypnotize groups of people and have them barking like dogs or playing air guitars. You will find when you learn conversational hypnosis that it is something completely different.

Conversational hypnosis is the process of being able to hypnotize someone and then communicate with their subconscious mind, without them being aware of it. It is carried out during an otherwise innocent conversation (or so the subject believes) and this is why it is called conversational hypnosis. It is also called Covert Hypnosis because it uses non-conventional techniques. It is being used every day through marketing and sales.

This form of hypnosis can be used to change or control a person’s behavior. Carefully chosen words and phrases, used in conjunction with specific body language, enters the subconscious and can alter their behavior. The subject is not aware that they have not made a decision by themselves. In the course of a simple conversation, you can get someone to do something you want them to do, simply by using the power of suggestion.

Once you have learnt some of the emotional triggers that virtually “force” people to make certain decisions, you have the knowledge to make anyone come to the conclusion or decision that you wanted from them. You can make anyone say “yes” to whatever you want.

Consider car salesmen; a good salesman can get you to buy the car that he has decided you will buy, whether you wanted that one or not. If he is very good at conversational hypnosis, you will not even be aware that it was not the car you wanted. Even a mediocre exponent of conversational hypnosis will get you to buy the car; the difference is that you might start to wonder why you did buy it after a few days have passed.

Has anything like this ever happened to you? Have you bought something and later wondered why on earth you did it? You may have been the “victim” of conversational hypnosis.
