Why Wedding Songs are Important
Posted by admin No Comments
When it comes to creating tone and atmosphere for your wedding day it is your wedding songs that will be the most important factor. If you want to create a wedding that says everything about you as a couple and about your style and tastes, then your choice of wedding songs will go a long way to achieving that.
It is said that the music you choose for your big day will provide the soundtrack to the day and will create lasting memories that will live on. So it is very important that you give yourselves plenty of time to source your wedding songs and to create a playlist of music that will give your wedding a soundtrack to remember.
It is important to realize just how many songs you will need to choose. You will need music for the following elements of your day:
-
The ceremony – processional, recessional, interlude
-
The cocktail hour
-
The wedding breakfast
-
Cutting the wedding cake
-
The first dance
-
Father/daughter and mother/son dance
-
The evening party
Your main concern will be to choose music for the first three elements of your day. For your ceremony your choices will be dependant upon the type of wedding ceremony you are having. A religious service may require traditional music with a religious tone, whilst a civil ceremony should not include any music with religious references.
The cocktail hour and wedding breakfast are elements where you guests will get to mingle and chat with each other, so soft background music which is not too loud or too upbeat is appropriate here. You may want to consider a live musician such as a pianist, flutist, harpist or string quartet for these two elements of your day.
When it comes to cutting the cake, your first dance and the father/daughter, mother/son dances, you will likely have songs in mind. Most notably your first dance will probably be a song that has special meaning to you both, and you can use this as a reference point for choosing songs for the other two elements.
Finally the evening party calls for some lively music which will entertain your guests throughout the night. A popular choice is a disco with plenty of disco classics and modern songs. You might also want to consider combining a disco with a singer or live band to provide extra entertainment throughout the night.
