Whether you realize it or not, those unknown numbers on your caller ID do not have to remain a mystery to you. You may not know who is calling, and you may never find out, but if you know what to do and what to look for, you may find out something that can help you decide if you want to answer, call back, or ignore the call if it comes again. You can find some simple information online to tell you what you need to know.

Before you decide that you would like to do a reverse phone lookup, which is always a good idea, study the number. You can find some small clues just by looking at the digits of the phone number. Is this a number you already know? Could this be someone in your contacts? Do you know anyone within that area code? Does it appear to be mobile or landline? If someone always calls your cell, you may see them come up by name and not really have the number memorized. If they are suddenly calling your landline for some reason, you see the number but not your programmed name for them. It might just be someone you know very well.
